something surprising

as some of you more international-politics savvy folk may know, london is currently abuzz with the presence of many heads of states and presidents and prime ministers and foreign dignitaries, but those people are vastly vastly (like a ration of 1234321:1) outnumbered by the billion and a half semi-crazed protesters and rioters that have been filling the streets of london since yesterday, and will continue to fight the man, bro! through the weekend.

the terror alert for london is code red these days, no surprise when you see the mobs marching like there's no tomorrow all around the financial district. there are militia groups of earth-lovers demanding the ethical treatment of seahorses, outraged, laid-off workers fighting for job creation in a global context, and fundamentalist groups fighting for god knows what (pun intended, definitely).

you would think, given my past history of fear, loathing and panic, that the only place you would currently find me is curled up in my bathtub, rocking back and forth, waiting for the apocalypse and sobbing "it's not my time! it's not my time!" welp, i sure pulled a fast one on YOU dear reader(s?)!

every time we hear sirens from my office, my co-worker helen goes, "oh goodness! get on bbc see if something's been blown up!" and i'm just like "bitch, please. we probably would have heard the explosion in the first place, and second of all, chill out!" IS THIS NOT soooo counter-intuitive from something you thought i would ever say?!

basically the way i see it is that i'm going to keep living my london life - only two weeks left! so yes, potential G-20 terrorists, i am in fact giving you the verbal finger. i would like to see you try to ruin m y last two weeks here, what with the sun shining and office gossip more plentiful than usual and grey's anatomy fiiiiinally being good again!
